Reigning world title holders are among the 20 national champions crowned this morning in the para cycling, transplant, hearing impaired and athletes with intellectual impairment (AWII) time trials at the Westbridge Funds Road National Championships.
Blustery conditions greeted the athletes as they tackled two, or in some categories three, laps of the 9.6-kilometre time trial circuit around Bold Park in Perth, WA.
The morning's competition was accented by a splash of rainbow bands, thanks to the presence of four of Australia's world champion para-cyclists β Alana Forster, Emily Petricola, Tara Neyland and Tahlia Clayton-Goodie, all of whom won their events today.

Also in attendance was Jodi Willis-Roberts, a Paralympic champion athlete in shot put who is now turning her talents to para cycling. Piloted by Greer Novak, Willis-Roberts competed in the Women B category for vision-impaired athletes.
Popular West Australian winners included Perth's Andrew Bannister in the men's tricycle category, and Albany's David Bryant.

The nation's top para cyclists will return to competition on Saturday morning with the road races starting and finishing in Kings Park.
