Brisbane’s Jackson Medway (Tudor Pro Cycling Team U23) has announced himself with a commanding performance to take out the Westbridge Funds Road National Championships Men Under 23 Road Race in Perth.
Medway jumped across to the breakaway before attacking brilliantly on the final lap of the 135km race, soloing to victory in Kings Park.
Medway powered to the national title in 3 hours 7 minutes, putting nearly a minute into former breakaway companions Noah Blannin (CCACHE x BODYWRAP) and Dylan Proctor-Parker (RCA Bikes Online), who took the silver and bronze respectively.

“I’m lost for words, I tried yesterday many times, but went nowhere,” Medway said of Friday’s criterium.
“I’m pretty excited, I’ve been taking it steady after a rocky season in 2025, I can’t believe where I am at already.
“It’s the first time I’ve actually been patient in a race and it paid off.”
Medway, who was the under-23 time trial national champion in early 2024, has since suffered a multitude of setbacks. In separate incidents over a horror 2024 season, he broke a femur and was hit by a car, making today’s victory so much sweeter.

“This makes it all worth it, all those days down, flying back to Brisbane and spending all those days in rehab,” he said.
“I know I’ve still got a long way to go, but I’m just happy I’m starting to see some signs of my old self.
“I don’t think it has sunk in yet, it is truly unbelievable, coming up the home straight, I’ve never won a road race before, I couldn’t believe it.”
The 2026 Westbridge Funds RoadNats conclude tomorrow with the elite men and women's road races.
