Amy’s Ride

History
The inaugural Amy’s Ride took place in Geelong in January 2006 as the Community Ride associated with the Bay Cycling Classic. Through the generous support of Bay Cycling Classic promoter John Trevorrow and his events company Cycling Events Down Under, Amy’s Ride has become a fixture in the Victorian summer cycling calendar.

New Location and Date for 2013
In 2013, changes to the summer racing calendar have moved the Bay Classic to a mid-week event meaning the only date available for Amy’s Ride was Wednesday 2nd January. While many enthusiasts may be ‘on holidays’, this day is not a public holiday. The Amy Gillett Foundation felt that this would preclude many loyal supporters from taking part in Amy’s Ride.

Cycling Australia (CA) and the AGF are delighted to be able to bring Amy’s Ride to her hometown of Ballarat on Sunday 13 January 2013. The ride maintains the thrill of rubbing shoulders with Australia’s cycling stars as part of the Cycling Australia National Road Championships.

Now you can support the Amy Gillett Foundation by participating in Amy’s Ride, then watch the cream of Australian cycling battle it out around Buninyong to see who will be crowned 2013 National Champion in the Men’s Road Race.

Why not make a weekend of it and also watch the Women’s and U23 Road Race championship events on Saturday?

Ride Route
Ride one of three new routes (100km, 70km, 20km) taking in the picturesque central highlands on quiet country roads starting and finishing  – just like the pros — in Buninyong.

Fundraising for entry
The entry process has been updated giving participants the option to fundraise for the AGF at the same time. Your registration will automatically set up your fundraising page enabling you to invite your friends and colleagues to help generate vital funds to help reduce serious bike rider injuries and fatalities.

As your fundraising total builds you can qualify to receive the official Amy’s Ride jersey, matching AGF Knicks, and other great fundraising prizes. Any rider raising in excess of $8,000 will be invited to join in the 2013 Share the Road Tour.
